Crann Tara derives from the Gaelic for Fiery Cross, the history behind the name and the symbol, it was decided, would be appropriate in the use as our group name. As Crann Tara, our aims and objectives include preserving the history, culture and heritage of Scotland as well making sure that the country will be left in proper hands, ensuring that her future will be secure as well. The group was formed in the wake of the 700 th anniversary of William Wallace's murder in London, 23rd of August 2005. From this time we have been striving to inspire and re-kindle passions within those who have either had or have Scotland's interests close to their heart.
Crann Tara is all about, rallying those who are interested in Scotland's history and believe it is something worth preserving,as well as bringing alive the culture, history and heritage and taking itto a wider audience. We have members with a wide range of interests and resources from the Picts and Celts through to Wallace, Bruce and the Jacobites. We regularly take an active part at commemorations across Scotland and our members have travelled to other countries such as Italy, England, France and Spain to participate in events in those countries which have Scottish connections. We are a non political or religious group who onlyhold but one allegiance,to that ofScotland.
